On or Off The Rails? Positive or Negative Opinion on 'Street Rail' in the world..

While there is a new era of street rail growth with new systems opening like the Gold Coast in Australia and Dubai but still a lot of opposition to new systems in the Western World, particularly by "right leaning politics' in the United States and Australia.

We at Tram and Light Rail Blog have decided to start a 'media sentiment' monitor to track the positive and negative responses to Light Rail developments around the world.

While of course we generally love expansion of Tram / Light Rail,  we also don't think that should come at any cost. To put it frankly there are proposals for new trams / light rail which even we don't think will return a positive return on investment (and we have a very broad view on what the returns are).

We will only cover stories in English about future plans and current performance of street, and exclude 'short term' stories like accidents, crashes, derailments, celebrity sight seeing etc.

Happy if you disagree with any of our ratings...  Lets keep the discussion going.

As At 21August 2014.
On Track 50%
Off The Rails: 50%

On The Right Track: Light Rail Benefiting Business in Edinburg UK.
Off The Rails: Einburgh Pay 5-8m/year in loan interest
On Track: Testing of Dubai Light Rail Progressing Well
Of The Trails: Tram use audit
